Flaming Ocean, Foam boards and Clay, 15’X20’, 2011
 
I was trying to create a contrast between fire and water. I used foam sheets to create the flexible flames of fire. As the ocean is denser, it makes me feel that the ocean is more solid and less flexible, thus I used clay to create the curvy waves. It was entered in the 2011 Annual Juried Student Art Show.

This is about the polluted ocean. As the unnaturally colored waves, which symbolized the polluted sea, push all the vibrant circular disks, which represent pollutants, towards the beach, the beach is crippled.
